ST HELENA CONTAINER BUSINESS FOR TITAN CONTAINERS

TITAN is pleased to confirm that following a change in the shipping service to this UK Colony outpost in the deep South Atlantic. Our containers are being used by AW Ship Management on its new monthly cargo service. Their small new container vessel pictured replaces the old cargo/passenger “mail ship” sailing from Cape Town, South Africa on a round-trip, which also serves an island even further adrift, Tristan da Cuna.

Recently St. Helena has become “news” because of its “most useless airport in the world” tag….which has been built at UK tax-payers expense to encourage tourism! The jury is out on whether this will be successful, the rather turbulent flights are from South Africa,  but there is no doubt that shipping will remain  the Island`s life blood to service the  5000 people living there.

St. Helena was of course famous as being the exile location and final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte!

Our containers are being supplied from various UK depot locations for the main line voyage south to Cape Town, where AWS take over. Critical to the viability of the business was TITAN’S ability to accept off-hire of the containers in Cape Town, rather than have them returned empty to Europe.

TITAN is delighted to commence this relationship with what was a shipping name from the UK past – Andrew Weir Shipping and is yet another example of our ability to offer shipping containers on a one-way rental basis. Indeed when the containers are available in Cape Town there is every chance that they will be used for a one-way trip with wine back to Europe.
