Container company is the growth creator of the year in Sjaelland, Denmark

TITAN wins EY entrepreneur of the year 2021 in region Sjaellland. Among other things, the jury points out that after a change of course, the company has become market leaders in their field in several countries.

On Tuesday, titan containers ceo and founder, Layland barker received the business award as Sjaelland's winner of EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2021, as the region's growth creators were celebrated at an event at Musicon in Roskilde.

The company started selling new and used shipping containers. After the financial crisis in 2008, TITAN Containers saw the better business opportunities in focusing on container rental. Since then, the company headquartered in Taastrup has experienced rapid growth. This fact impressed the regional jury, which has the experienced businessman Irfan Goandal as chairman of the jury.

“There are some huge growth opportunities in the company, where they have already managed to realize some of these since their 180 degree course change. Today they can be proud of being market leaders in several countries," says Peter Vejlgaard, Partner in EY and responsible for region Sjaelland in EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.

He is supplemented by Steen Bo Dolberg, area director at Danske Bank, who is the competition's main partner:
"The company’s great environmental focus is also worth mentioning despite - or perhaps precisely because - they are moving in an industry that is not known to be the very greenest. The company's products have a long lifespan, and the jury was impressed that the scrap factor on the containers is very low."

Titan containers was a finalist in the region along with the following companies:

With the regional victory, TITAN Containers is ready for the national final of EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, which takes place on 13 January 2022. Here, one of the six regional winners will be voted overall winner in Denmark.

EY Entrepreneur Of The Year is Denmark's and the world's most recognized growth creator competition, taking place in more than 60 countries. For almost 25 years, Danish growth companies and the entrepreneurs who build and run them have been hailed by EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.
The strongest Danish candidates participate in awards in six regions before the national winner is proclaimed on 13 January 2022 in Copenhagen. The main winner will take part in the international final, which will take place in Monaco in June 2022.

How to find finalists and winners

To participate, the entrepreneur must be the owner/co-owner of a Danish share or limited liability company and have had overall responsibility for at least two years. The company may be listed on the stock exchange. The company must have been in existence for at least three years, and by the end of the last financial year have a minimum of 20 employees and an increase in the number of employees compared to the previous financial year.
The entity must have had at least 15 % growth in gross margin or turnover in the last financial year, and the most recent accounts must show positive equity and a positive result.

EY reviews all Danish companies except companies with less than 20 employees, publicly owned companies and those with foreign majority ownership. The candidates are then presented to an independent jury, which will select the regional and national winners.
