How Tesco aced Christmas with a little help from TITAN

UK supermarket Tesco are one of our best long-term clients. While we help keep their goods chilled year round, they needed our cold storage solutions more than ever in the run-up to December 25.
The challenge
TITAN Containers was tasked with helping Tesco to keep millions of pounds worth of stock refrigerated or frozen at stores across the country for three months from early November.
A mixture of turkeys, mince pies, and other Christmas goodies, this stock was essential to keeping Tesco’s many customers happy over the festive period.
Tesco’s requirements were very specific. They needed to store goods across a range of temperatures, so we helped them select the exact units they needed from our ArcticStore refrigerated container collection.
We have models ranging from 10ft to 40ft capable of various functions, including chilling down to -75°C (-103°F).
The solution
We worked with Tesco to calculate that 250 ArcticStore containers would meet their requirements.
Tesco are a fantastic customer and know their seasonal needs well in advance, so they were able to finalise their order from us in August. This gave us ample time to ensure we had everything in place and ready to go by November.
The popular supermarket chain already rent more than 400 cold storage units from us year-round.
The delivery
Our goal from the start was to make the delivery of our 250+ ArcticStore containers as efficient as possible.
Our logistics team worked hard to ensure that the ArcticStore containers were delivered exactly where they were needed in two phases, as planned.
The results
- 600,000 turkeys kept frozen
- 1.2 million mince pies chilled
- 3,000 tonnes of vegetables kept fresh
- 2 million customers served
