Scaling temperature-controlled storage as business demand grows
by Rasmus Nørgaard
As demand for temperature-controlled food distribution increased, Greek wholesaler TALOS AE needed additional refrigerated storage that could grow alongside its business.
The company initially deployed a 20ft ArcticStore to support its operations. As order volumes increased, the existing solution reached capacity, creating the need for additional compliant cold storage without investing in permanent infrastructure.
The challenge
TALOS AE is a wholesale distributor handling standardized packaged food products. Maintaining controlled storage conditions and accurate temperature records is essential to comply with ISO requirements, particularly during Greece’s hot summer months.
As business volumes grew, the company required additional refrigerated storage while maintaining operational flexibility.
Without a container-based solution, TALOS would have needed to construct a permanent cold room, involving planning approvals, significant capital investment and limited flexibility for future growth.
The solution
TALOS initially implemented a 20ft ArcticStore before expanding to a 40ft ArcticStore as storage requirements increased.
Configured with internal shelving, the unit serves both as temperature-controlled storage and as an efficient order-picking and consolidation area.
The customer selected TITAN because of the equipment quality, low energy consumption, ease of operation and the flexibility to match storage capacity to changing business needs.
The result
By expanding from a 20ft to a 40ft ArcticStore, TALOS successfully increased its refrigerated storage capacity while maintaining compliance with temperature control requirements.
The solution enabled:
- Storage capacity that scales with business growth
- Reliable temperature control with full temperature logging
- Efficient order picking and product consolidation
- Low energy consumption and easy day-to-day operation
Today, the ArcticStore continues to support TALOS’ growing distribution operations.
Supporting growing food distribution businesses
As demand fluctuates, distributors increasingly need storage solutions that can expand alongside their operations without requiring permanent infrastructure investments.
This project demonstrates how flexible cold storage can support business growth while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
